Located in close-in NE Portland's Lloyd district the tower is adjacent to the Portland Convention Center and located along the MAX line making it a prime urban location for access to the airport, center city, and the tech corridor. It overlooks a small park with sweeping views from Mount St. Helens to Mount Hood over the Willamette River to the center city skyline. The design features floor to ceiling glass, an open innovative floor plan and 20' ceilings making it one of the most unique spaces in Portland for city urban living. The penthouse interior was recently used in a photo shoot by renowned New York fashion photographer Richard Warren.

Client + Program - The overall design concept captures the following attributes of composition and qualities of space.
Space Making 1. A night club atmosphere for entertaining guests,
perfect for bringing in a private chef or caterer when
needed for special events.
Space Making 2. A sanctuary of calmness after long hours of work and
distant travels.
Quality 1. Open & Flexible - The space is designed to transform with the use of an open plan, translucent resin walls, a glass partition and a clear separation of living and sleeping areas when desired. Adjustable down lights and track lighting were used to create flexibility with different art arrangements which could change thru time as collections evolve.
Quality 2. A Lightness to the Composition - At night the translucent walls become light fixtures for entertaining as seen with the illuminated two story amber stair-tower. The master suite resin shower walls become a lantern for the upstairs living space while producing a mysterious glow to the exterior and allowing natural light into the master bath and bedroom.
Quality 3. Warmth & Durability - The use of Brazilian granite slabs in the kitchen and Merbau Brazilian hardwood cherry floors give the design a richness and sense of permanence. The ceiling over the living room and the kitchen are Sapele hardwoods as are the kitchen cabinets. The kitchen countertops and bathroom vanities are Wenge hardwoods that add a layer of luxury and depth to the open composition.
Quality 4. Hierarchy of Space - "A room with a view" concept is laid out in sections as seen throughout the space. The living room is the focal point of the design with it's 20' ceiling that was maintained after sleeping platforms were added creating an open upstairs living/sleeping area that overlooks the 2 story living room. The kitchen is defined with a level change that creates a clear zone of utility without the use of any walls or sliding panels. The large 2 story staircase walls serve as an art gallery while winding upward. The master suite is completely open and positioned to capture the views of the mountains to the north and east while sweeping south toward the river and the city skyline.
